Tuesday’s setup included a cut-off low across the Southwest with a cold front lying across the south-central Plains and dryline intersecting the front across Oklahoma. Despite an alleged cap that had eroded (according to soundings) and marginal to moderate surface convergence, things failed to fire near our target area west of Ardmore, OK. Sure enough storms fired to the north – east of OKC – and south – near Throckmorton, TX. We decided to head toward the Throckmorton storms, planning an intercept near Jacksboro. We arrived ahead of the storm, which was pseudo-organized. We continued to photograph the cell as it cycled and gathered the muster for some nice rotation as the sun set. Outflow killed any chance of something interesting. Another waste of CAPE.
