Below are a few pics from Tuesday's (somewhat) surprise snow event that was driven by frontogenitical forcing near the 700 mb level. The band of snow, which is evident below on the radar loop, led to about 2.5-3" of snow across DeKalb. With over an inch of rain in the previous 24 hours, followed by a hard freeze and, thereafter, snow and wind, roads became treacherous by evening. The pics below are after the snow had stopped.
