Our first vacation with Chase was a quick jaunt through
Devils Lake, the
North Woods of Wisconsin, the UP, and, in particular, Keweenaw Peninsula. The entire drive through Wisconsin and the UP of Michigan was spectacular. We thoroughly enjoyed our stays in Wausau and Houghton. Our favorite area was the eastern shores of the
Keweenaw (less developed than the western shore),
Houghton (surprisingly cool town on Portage Lake; spent two nights enjoying the $2.50 pints at
KBC), and
Calumet (neat architecture in this old mining town). Sharon and I joked about revisiting in January to experience the
lake effect. We'll see ...

Wow I really enjoy looking at these awesome pictures you have on your blog. Do you go through Houghton/Hancock while storm chasing? Becuase if you do I was wondering how long you stay. I actually know those towns quite well I have family up there and my family and I have been taking summer vacations up there for as long as I can remember.
Some of those buildings and houses up there are over 200 years old I believe.
